I'm thinking of working in a restaurant when I move to Paris (with my fiancé) to help broaden my French skills. For those who work in the industry, what is it like? I know that tipping is culturally different in France, but can decent money be made? Do waitresses and waiters who work in the restaurant industry actually see any of the 15% gratuity included on most bills in French restaurants?
I know that your answer will be dependent on whether you work in fine dining, a bistro, etc., but answers from those in many setting would be much appreciated.
Merci beaucoup!
