Original works by Thomas Moran: here is a sample of my inventory of Morans. CLICK HERE to visit my website: AffordableArt101 Fine Prints
I also have etchings by Mary Nimmo Moran and Peter Moran.
"Twilight" pencil-signed ARTIST'S PROOF
Medium: etching. Signed in pencil and annotated. This beautiful etching was etched by Thomas Moran (after Rousseau). Size: 4 3/8 x 6 3/4 inches (plate); the entire sheet is rather large and measures 11 x 15 3/4 inches. Beneath the image is inscribed "Etched by Thomas Moran-- Proof on India Paper-- Twilight after Rousseau". This seems to have been a working proof, and the impression is rich and dark. $1000
"The Pass of Glencoe, Scotland"
Medium: original etching. Catalogue reference: Klackner 29. Executed in 1883, this is a nice impression on laid paper from the 1888 printing. Size: 9 1/4 x 11 1/2 inches (plate); there is a small tear (repaired) in the top margin. $500
"Passaic Meadows"
Medium: original etching. Catalogue reference: Klackner 15. Executed in 1879, this is the original Thomas Moran etching-- a nice impression on wove paper. Size: 5 3/4 x 8 7/8 inches (plate). $250
"An American Sunset" also called "Landscape"
Medium: etching. Catalogue reference: Klackner 63. Executed in 1888 (etched by Thomas Moran after George Inness), this is a nice impression circa 1900 on laid paper. Size: 5 1/2 x 7 3/4 inches (plate). $250
"The Grand Canal, Venice"
Medium: chromolithograph. Signed in pencil. This is a magnificent sepia chromolithograph (signed by Thomas Moran and executed after his own painting). Published in 1897 by Fishel, Adler and Schwartz of New York and printed in Austria. Size: 18 1/4 x 28 1/4 inches (image) with good margins; some minor creasing (not unusual for a work of this size). $1000
"Morning on the St. Johns, Florida"
Medium: original etching. Catalogue reference: Klackner 56. A rich, dark impression on laid paper, remarkably clean and without foxing or age-toning. Published for the American Art Review in 1881; the American Art Review was a lavishly produced revue featuring original etchings by Moran and other leading American artists of the era, which only lasted three years and is now quite scarce. Plate size: 5 3/4 x 8 7/8 inches (145 x 225mm) with full original margins. Signed in the plate (not by hand). One of Thomas Moran's most sought-after prints, and one of his few Florida compositions. $850
