About the choir:

Voices, the City of Derby Girls Choir, is an independent chamber choir for girls aged 11 – 19 from the cathedral city of Derby, England. Established in 1995 by Ann Miller, the choir performs a very varied repertoire ranging from early music to jazz and pop arrangements, covering an extensive programme of both sacred and secular music.

Voices Choir is always popular with audiences and has been successful in a number of competitions. Concert venues on its annual tour have included Cologne and Salzburg's Cathedrals, St Nicholas Church in Prague, the Duomo in Florence, and St Marks Basilica in Venice. The choir has so far recorded two CDs (1998 and 2005). Most of the choir’s singers are soloists who study singing privately, many at an advanced standard, with VoiceBox tutors. Building on the singers’ secure vocal technique the choir produces a sound which is both beautiful and distinctive.

Dan Miller - Musical Director and Conductor:

After studying cello, conducting and singing at the Purcell School of music and the Royal College of Music, Dan changed his musical focus from cello to voice and continued vocal and drama studies at English National Opera and LAMDA. He is now an established singing teacher and vocal coach, with diplomas in both singing and choral conducting. His interest is currently centred on work with chamber choirs as a conductor, as a singer himself, and as composer - arranger. Dan is conductor of Voices Choir and is musical director for the choir’s visit to Paris this year.
